Maggie met her husband John Muchmore in the Art Department of Carnegie Mellon University in 1965. By 1967 they were living in a small mountain village in northern New Mexico. Necessity drove them out of the mountains to Santa Fe where they have painted, worked, raised their children and now help raise grandchildren.
Since 1979 Maggie has had many one-woman shows of her landscapes in Santa Fe at Munson, Kent and LewAllen galleries, with Gump's in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and several galleries in Houston. She has juried many national pastel shows.
For the past decade she has also been working on a series of large charcoal drawings about aging and the feminine inspired by workshops she created and teaches for the Q'Keeffe Museum 's program "Art and Leadership for Girls".
